My collaboration with ORBE NOVO, a brand of high-end fashion accessories made in France from recycled materials, testifies to a quest for the obvious. I didn’t want to hide anything to reveal the potential of the materials and know-how.

This desire not to hide anything from the eyes of the user has pushed us to find new technical solutions. Thin rubber strips allow us to make piping that stiffens the shapes. Lining with PVC surfaces makes it possible to structure the assemblies of textile materials.

The hot air balloon sail, the main material of the bags, super resistant and yet so light, is lined with a more structuring textile. The sewing thread becomes the binder between these two materials. The quilting thus obtained is a semi-product, digitally pre-cut, ready to assemble. The quilted effect gives it a slightly puffy appearance, a reminder of past use… The composite material, once obtained, is expressed through simple shapes composed of straight lines and flat areas of material.
